-----------------------------------------------------------
Learco Pustetto A bit of my history, that is as much of it as I can remember as I played with Ian Phillips ( we used to partake in drinking the pale amber a bit )and most of that period was a blur for me. I used to show up at training with my Backo (digging machine) and work boots , and have Barry Bieber chase me around for mucking training up. Those were the days. Ha. I played most of my career with Chelsea , but had a year with Moore Park early on when we couldn`t field a side and also later on for the same reason I played one year with a Botany side. We also used to play park footy on saturdays for a while . That was pretty good . We had a bloke (forget his name ) used to kick goals from half way without boots. Ha. A couple of us played for Paddo Colts in the Easts Saturday comp one year as well as playing for Chelsea Sunday at the same time. (I don`t know if that was allowed) that was a hard year.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Charles "Chica" Riddell I could not tell you the year I started all I remember is I was
about 8 years old.

I played with Chelsea up until E grade. In F grade we were undefeated ( 1963 or 1964 ) until the semis and lost both.

In 1964 or 1965 E grade we went through undefeated and won the comp. After that I went
and played with Zetland. As far as reps go I think it was called Oatley Shield then and I was also picked for Presidents Cup but at around the same time I was also picked out of the barrel to do National Service so that was 2 years down the drain.

I live on the Central Coast and I am 65 years old ( just retired ) and I don't get to see any the boys any more.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Graham Roberts Not sure of the grades, but played from 1968,69,70 and half way through 71 when my dad Ron Roberts moved us to the goldcoast.i played in the winning souths s.g.ball team in 69.and the losing jersey flegg team in 71.my brother peter also played those years and ballboyed for chelsea too.

In both years played 5/8 and full back and was goal kicker
-----------------------------------------------------------

Rick Thomas
Hi Scott
My name is Rick Thomas and I played all of those years ago for Chelsea.
I played in the C grade team at the time, with the likes of Ian Phillips and Learco Pustetto.

I started playing rugby league at 5 years of age and at the time was living in Glebe,
so played all of my junior league in the Balmain area For the Leichhardt Coaching Class club
and Glebe Youth.,

I then went to the Newtown area where I played for the Addison Royals and Hurlstone Park.

I was Chosen at Fullback in the Newtown S G Ball Team (Then known as the Bluebags,
before becoming the Jets). We actually played South Sydney (if my memory is correct)
in the final that year and won in a close game but were disqualified due to our second rower lying about his age, someone had recognised him and dobbed him in, fair enough too.

My memory is not as clear as it used to be, Trying to remember who introduced me to
the Chelsea Club, may have been Greg Wynn. I then played with Chelsea C grade and also had a couple of games in the A grade when the guys were short.

I actually cannot remember how many seasons I played for Chelsea but I remember it was a
fantastic club with amazing people and I had the best time of my life there. I remember Ian Phillips of course, cant forget those David Bowie parties!! ha ha and the Votano brothers, mad Learco (I see he has got all grey hair now!!) please say hi to him for me as well.(if he remembers me)

I remember one night when we had been at the Crown hotel and had a few too many and Learco had his pushbike outside the pub and somehow, he managed to pushbike back home with me on the back to his parents house, in the pouring rain. I dont think his mum was too impressed.

Lots more stories I remember, I hope I can meet up the the guys at some stage, have a few beers and tell and hear some stories. This is a fantastic website, I came across it by accident while surfing the net. You guys have done a great job and Ken is really onto it as well.

Couldn’t believe when I looked at the photos etc.

I have been living in New Zealand for many years, I have two Children, a girl and a boy, all grown up now.
